The Winners of the RE: Fashion Awards were announced on Nov 13th 2008 at the Shoreditch Hall. The UK has been the leaders in the eco-fashion front, vowing to change the face of fashion for the good of the environment. Other countries are following suit. The awards were founded by Anti-Apathy, the Ethical Fashion Forum and Futerra Sustainability Communications.
"With more than 200 applicants to the awards, we have been stunned by the quality and breadth of what has been achieved. Applicants are changing thousands of lives and have the potential to change millions more. The RE:Fashion Awards represent not just the most important movement since fashion began - but also the answer to the industry’s future,” stated Tasmin Lejeune, Director at Ethical Fashion Forum.
A celebrity studded event drawing the likes of Peaches Geldof, Leah Wood and Portia Freeman with ethical designs from Vivienne Westwood, Preen, Bora Asku, Jonathan Saunders and Zandra Rhodes, the Iconic Catwalk ended with Daisy Lowe in a Westwood creation specifically for the event.
The winners that are currently leading the ethical fashion industry will soon be household names as standards in the marketplace is forced to change.
