Alexander Mcqueen had a witty take on many classics such as the Dior New Look from 1952, and the Chanel suit in large houndstooth check.
This was a spectacular headline grabbing extravaganza of a show with models wearing wheels made into hats by Phillip Treacy. This was an original and bizarre show with chess pieces, car parts, umbrellas, dustbin lids, washing machine hoses and lampshades all featured. The clothes were fantasy costumes from huge checks, large feathered nests entrapping the unwary models, wet look nylon pleated into a huge ballgown. The models had enormous, painted on monstrous mouths that looked like an overdose of collagen had been ordered.
