The final day of Box Eight’s LA Fashionweek 2010 presentations, were denim-packed and as relaxed as the atmosphere. My hat goes off to you Box Eight, Kravitz PR and Ben Cope and all of the many people who helped create the last four evenings. Dior Beauty keyed by Garett Gervais was fitting and well done for this evenings designers as was the hair by Michael Unite.
Unfortunately the same cannot be said of Gabby Applegate who did not seem to have her barings for this presentation. There was a hodgepodge of pieces that neither seemed like the belonged together or in the same collection for that matter. Each designer had the ability to create their own photo instillation space and Gabby chose an antique chair in the middle of the cyc. Nothing original.
The collection was a mix of lace, leggings, leather bomber jackets with 2 hoodies, one made out of lace, the other made of silk. Jersey dresses and tops, with a little camouflage thrown in just to mix it all up.
All look like you could already find them in the retail world, however, I did have a favorite piece… a black Mohair bomber jacket which is a bit of the understated luxury that LA loves.
Just as fashion week had many bad seasons but kept trying and came out on top, I suggest she do the same.
