After success at Nolcha Presents Fall 2010 event at BoConcept this February, Designer Carlotta Gherzi for Sado is coming back to the Big Apple to unveil her Spring Summer 2010 Collection at Sample New York.
“Nolcha gave me the opportunity to meet Sample Studio at the February fashion week event and our partnership began. I am always so thankful to the extent Nolcha takes to find and promote their designers,” says Carlotta.
A key to Carlotta’s inspiration this season is a single water drop, which splashes and flows into the geometric trademark twirl, one that is incorporated into the labels signature print for 2010. Sado’ collection for Spring/Summer 2010 is all about softness, sensuality and layers & is a combination of the earth’s natural elements. The color palette is gold of the sunset in Goa, blue of the Mediterranean sea, green lush of a golf course grass in California, flame red of burning log embers from a Cape Town barbeque and a glimpse of soft grey formed by the passing cloud in the sky after a tropical rain fall over Tobago.
“It is so great to see a young designer really spread her wings. Season after season Carlotta’s pieces get more creative and functional at the same time. The focus on is a specific jet-setting clientele that has really turned into how real on-the-go women want to dress. She dazzles at every event she participates in, so I am not surprised New York Retailers want to pick her up,” explains Lynn Furge, Creative Director of Nolcha: Fashion Business Services.

Entrepreneur Vanessa Di Palma Wright is on to something… as owner and buyer of Farasha she give all of the women in her life designers from around the globe, offering select pieces in an eclectic and unique setting, and ultimately creating a one of a kind atelier for women to discover new clothing lines to add to their wardrobes.
Vanessa means butterfly, which is very telling for a stylist who represents designers from all over the world with the aim to help clients reinvent and transform themselves through the expression of fashion and clothes. This is how the concept of Farasha materialized. Vanessa means, "Butterfly" and Farasha means, "Butterfly" in Arabic. Indeed fitting for a concept that reinvents the clients it serves by refining, transforming and accenting their image with the rare and exceptional pieces carefully selected specifically for the Farasha clientele during the owner’s travels.
With a keen eye for both business and style the initial trunk show event was a success selling designers wares from New York, Chicago, Dallas and everywhere in between.
Nolcha’s Creative Director Lynn Furge sourced several independent designers that dominate the roster.
“I had so much fun sticking to the desired criteria, but exploring what a brand new sales floor could look like. There are so many talented designers that all have separate visions, but layering them together is really how women dress. Seeing my favorites all hang next to each other really echoes what a strong Spring 2010 wardrobe should look like,” stated Furge.
Lara Miller, Maleku, Imaginary People, Chako, Jess Rizutti, Shorty Clothing, Nora del Busto, Deanna Burasco, Ms. Bodangles, Margaret Miller and MCC will be available throughout the season as well as on the website http://www.farashastyle.com/
“Nolcha’s expertise and know-how in the fashion industry has enabled me to implement and successfully launch Farasha,” said Vanessa. “Lynn Furge, Nolcha’s creative director has an exquisite eye for talent and quality. Her attention to detail, knowledge of current trends and direct connection to global and emergent designers is truly unrivaled. She has been instrumental in initiating communication and engaging designers to work with Farasha from the onset. It is a privilege to work with her."

On deck to head up the festivities was recording sensation Mya who was clad in both Jess Rizzuti and Maleku Jewelry at the Liv nightclub launch.
Then off to day two where Mya wore Nolcha designer Beata B on the yacht party.
"Dancing at LIV, cruising in a private yacht around Miami's Bay and sunshine all weekend to kick-off ESCADA's new fragrance- Marine Groove! Thank you ESCADA!" exclaimed Mya.
Ethical Fashion Preview Designer Emesha has been selected as one of “six of the best combined up-to-the-minute trends with commercial nous” touting her “military looks and heavy wools with feminine silky fabrics” to be a stand-out amongst 100’s of exhibiting designers in the Somerset House venue. Emesha showed within the sustainable area “Estethica” and is with Felicites showroom in the UK (http://www.felicities.co.uk/) and Belesprit ‘s International showroom on-line (http://www.belesprit.net/v2/index.aspx) .

Fashion Business Platform Synergizes with Designers from Haiti and Africa to Support Global Causes and Highlight Emerging Talent
Nolcha will kick-off Fashion Week this year with a special mission-driven cause, by featuring Haiti-native Catherine Charlot, of Himane. Charlot will showcase her collection, made from recycled goods such as broken umbrellas and donate all of the proceeds to aid family and friends in Haiti. This year’s event also marks the debut of ‘Nolcha Cares’ - a 13-piece women’s wear collection in collaboration with Care for Kenya. Five independent designers, (Carlotta Gherzi for Sado, Jess Rizzuti, Anavaa Kisasa, Siboney Swimwear and Anastastia Chatzka,) selected by Nolcha worked with Kenyan- inspired themes to create sketches for the one-of-a-kind collection made completely from Kenyan textiles compiled by Care for Kenya.
“These types of collaborations offers the fashion industry the opportunity to harness the power of both business and consumer outreach to support those with greatest need in places like Haiti and Kenya,” said Kerry Bannigan, Nolcha CEO.
This is just one of many hands-on projects Care for Kenya has started since it was founded this past year with the mission of empowering women to become leaders in their communities. Care for Kenya is a non-profit organization that works to educate local communities by providing promotional support, legal advice, accounting, research, web design and general consulting services to underserved communities.
Nolcha’s commitment to merging fashion with philanthropy continues with the announcement of the Donate a Design to Heal Africa (www.donate-design.org) to help develop fair trade cooperatives in the Democratic Republic of Congo in conjunction with Bel Esprit Showroom. The launch of the Donate Design project on February 11 will open a global t-shirt contest, “for those who dream of a beautiful world.” The winning designs will be announced at a gala fundraiser later this year and will be produced for sale to benefit HEAL Africa’s training program.
Following Fashion Week, the ‘Nolcha Cares’ collection can be purchased at CareforKenya.org with bios of the local Kenyans behind the inspiration. Proceeds will fund various entrepreneurial programs in Kenya. For more information visit www.careforkenya.org.
