Eco-System Going Green

Posted by fashionentrepreneurreport On Tuesday, November 04, 2008

The small business owner has worked hard to create an integrated business system solution that is customer focused, business driven and quality oriented. This strategy has formed an ECOSYSTEM that is vibrant and alive in our economic world. Now, “Social Engineering” is challenging the business owner to continue to practice corporate sustainability in an environmentally and socially responsible manner.  Everyone is talking “GREEN.”  It is not a buzzword but a smart business decision.  You don’t have to give up the innovative solution that has served your business well.  But you want to evolve to the more socially conscious business practice.

Business owners are making efforts to reduce their impact on the environment by reducing product packaging, increasing the recycled content of products, pushing suppliers to reduce the environmentally harmful components in their products, using more renewable energy and reducing the amount of waste generated.  This is the NEW ECOSYSTEM.

For a fashion corporation this means a lot more than just changing production methods or using eco-friendly dyes.  There are many ways you can make your day to day office practices “green” as well.  Try changing the light bulbs to the more efficient energy type. They will be labeled: ENERGY STAR®.  Use recycled paper.  Make certain that all cords are plugged into energy saving surge protectors.

PC-Technology – If you are serious about answering your business’ energy expenditures and its carbon footprint, PC-Technology will meet those challenges.  New PC and server technology is environmentally friendly at all technical component lifestyles.  Many of the technical partners are at the forefront of e-waste recycling.  When purchasing new computers, servers or any other office technology make sure they meet the current market standards for waste, as well as find out how you can recycle your old equipment.

Network Component Manufacturers are offering a dynamic approach to environmental stewardship.  They approach the “GREEN” supply chain holistically, from initial design to end of life recycling. .

Energy Efficient Solutions’ USB for PC’s and servers are cost effective and use up to five times less power in normal operation than any other battery backup.  This technology offers both a challenge and an opportunity to protect your company’s assets and also to protect the environment.  The energy efficient design of this USB Product offers both.  So, why not opt for the greener option?

And while we are speaking of backing up.  As the climate of business is changing, so is the climate of the globe.  The hurricane rate has gone up 15% in the last 5 years.  There are more floods, heat waves, electrical storms and blizzards across the world than ever before.  The name of the game is backing up.  Store your computer away from a window.  Unplug it from the outlet if a bad storm is coming.  Keep it in a cool place (and never in the trunk of your car for a long period of time.)  Make sure that your external hard drive is stored on a flat surface.  We live in a day where items can be protected via multiple storage sources, so take the extra five minutes to back them up.
We are in the midst of a clean-tech revolution and even the small business owner needs to be aware of the new business opportunities at every point on the economic spectrum.
