NY Fashion Week Day 3

Posted by fashionentrepreneurreport On Tuesday, September 09, 2008

10 am Carolina Herrera
09/08
Polished perfection with a slight sexier edge than normal.  Beautiful black metallics, Petrol blues, yellow and pink.  Long flamenco dresses were stunning and effortless made for a woman of any age.  This is not your Mother’s Carolina.  It is youthful and flirty Carolina done with the most delectable fabrics and strong colours.

1 pm Sergio Davila
09/08
Menswear done with an easy nonchalance due to the  washes of colours like a faded awning at Villa in Majorca.  The brushed blue tuxedo pants with the white stripes were quaint and the layered looks were far superior to the sweaters that came down the runway solo.  Girls dressed like little schoolboys was a cute theme, but expected.  He should expounded upon the dresses instead.

2 pm Diesel
09/08
A beautiful brigade of military inspired jackets, slouchy overalls, washed silk blouses, silvers, light blues and interesting subtle cloud-like graffiti prints and gorgeous feathered conductor hats.  Downtown slouch never looked so luxurious and chic.  Sexy needn’t always be skin tight.

6pm Tony Cohen
Obviously inspired by Stella McCartney, gorgeous earth tomes with hints of pink, silver and mint green for the disco girl who turns into a desert rose.  Trousers were the strong point.  The shoes were wedges which were a refreshing break from the cutsie shoes we have seen all week.

7 pm Ports 1961

From A to Z every detail was thought about.  The hats were a twist on tribal masks and the jewelry echoed the same sentiment.  The bound pony tails were beautiful and sleek and carried the theme of totem poles.  The vertical layering of the pieces was modern but the fabric textures and colours were so tactile that the collection was soft, not minimal.  Cowboy Junkies set the tone for the spirit of the piece, as it was more of an artistic movement than just a fashion show.  This show was not only a testament to the designer Tia Cibani but the Producer Lynne O’Neill as well.  Pocahontas came to Manhattan in a modern way tonight!

8 pm Gottex
09/08
Gottex was a colorful end elegant collection. There were different themes, one being sailor, with anchors on some suits, flowing high-waisted sailor pants, and designs reminiscent of the 40s. Gottex was clean and fresh and received a partial standing ovation.
