Ah, it was such a toss up whether to speak about the Space-aged shoulder, the one shoulder detail or the 80’s. Countless fashion blogs are already posting all three as the must-haves for Fall 09, and yet, the 80’s seems to encompass the entire range of it all, but who did it best? Was it Marc Jacobs who resurrected Parker Posey Party Girl in a thrift store kind of way?
This new wave of 80’s infusion is not about the copy cat big hair, Cyndi Lauper make-up or day-glo divas. It is about bringing back the life of the party, the devil may care attitude. The f**k the economy, I just want to wear a bold lip, some sparkle and dance my troubles away.
Thank you Balmain for accomplishing all three and completing the look with a slouchy boot. The skirts were short. The sequins were plentiful, yet the attitude was fresh and new. Every party girl (Park Avenue or Park Slope) will be lucky to get their hands on one. Sorry
Shoulders… this time you lost out.
