Some women chase after men, I run round and find them exciting clothes for them to chase in! This week as aPersonal Shopper in London has me for 3 men who were either too busy to shop for themselves or who wanted a new look.
Each of them had different coloring, body shape, budget and lifestyle requirements. Most men understand the importance of buying a good well fitting suit but find “smart casual” more of a challenge. Men should wear great colors that suit them, cool designs and expensive shoes. Brands I rely on for this principle in styling technique are Etro for shirts, lovely linen blazers, Dunhill for their quality shirts and jumpers, Paul Smith, Cheeky Monkeys, Diesel, Lindenberg for his amazing denim (right now Lindenberg has a black charcoal grey “Rock Star” skinny jean that all of my clients love!).
Merino wool is cool for spring, summer and looks expensive and stylish (try Pringle’s turquoise, marine blue and dark red) with a t-shirt and black jeans. I bring clothes to the client, after about an hour of research and four hours of shopping.
Mens Styling for very tall men is harder; there are many men out there over 6’4” and it has taken me ages to source clothes for them. The Italian suit maker Sartoria is great and reasonably priced. Segun Adelaja has clothes to dream about. Very elegant and sophisticated, classic with a twist.
If you are looking for a deal go to Junk de Luxe. For swimwear try Olebar Brown, fantastic in hot colors and black.
Whether helping the men cultivate their style or getting them the notice they deserve, shopping isn’t always about the trend in menswear but creating an iconic look for each customer.
