Business of Style: Business of Beauty

Posted by fashionentrepreneurreport On Friday, July 10, 2009

In this day and age what you are not wearing can get you more attention that what you do wear (reference US Weekly’s best and worst beach bodies or Lady Gaga’s World Tour and you will understand).
So although we usually only talk about the Business of Fashion today the Business of Beauty is more apropos.
The world is learning that time in the sun both ages and kills, so self-tanner has become the way to go.  Nothing, however, is more horrible than getting that orangey paste on your dry-clean only.  Better yet, I broke up with a man, solely because he smelled like self-tanner.  You know what I mean… half sweat, half burnt sugar as the chemicals change your skin.
Welcome Cellufight from Tarte.  celluFIGHT™ is formulated with skinTIGHT™ complex , a proprietary anti-cellulite complex that firms and tones skin while improving elasticity. Plant and bio-nutrient extracts boost cellular metabolism shedding excess fat tissue. Caffeine helps stimulate blood flow immediately reducing “the orange peel” effect on problem areas such as waist, hips, thighs and buttocks. This anti-cellulite natural self-tanner contains clinically-proven antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that prevent the long-term build-up of fat tissue under the skin.  I was lucky enough to garner a bottle and I swear on my life and my thighs, that this cream smells fresh like Green Tea, does not stain your clothing (I even wore my white Hermes pants) and gives you that Svelte summer leg one must possess to wear Balmain or a bathing suit (both summer favorites).

And then of course there are feet.  What does one do when stomping around the subways and street festivals when it comes time to dinner at 9 in a strappy Cesar Paciotti?  Clarins Foot Beauty Treatment Cream.  It has Virgin Cashew Nut Oil which restores suppleness to skin, Shea Butter to smooth away roughness, while nourishing skin. Arnica that helps feelings of fatigue and swelling.  Myrrh for skin strengthing and beautiful nails .  Essential Oil of Thyme to purify the skin.   And last but not least Laponite® Powder which absorbs dampness.  Men take note, this cream is not greasy and will not get all grimey in your dress shoes.  Try it out, your partners will be more than pleased.

For that fresh out of bed good night sleep look, make up artists recommend white pencil inside the eye, however try something like Tarte’s multipleEYE.  Toting their proprietary HydroPlant Peptide™ Tarte’s Lash Grower is  clinically proven to give the appearance of longer, thicker lashes naturally: soy and amino acid proteins combine to form an essential super-protein base that fortifies and nourishes lashes. It is stocked with  protein emulsion is infused with cellulose, a plant-derived thickening agent, and vitamin C, an antioxidant booster.  The idea is to use it for 6 weeks and see a 152% improvement in lash length.  I have been inconsistent with the application and still no longer have to use my base coat to add length or volume to my fine blonde lashes.  It is genius!
And to put your best face forward the only thing I have seen that gets actual results is The Wilma Schumann Liposome.  Used on facials at Facemaker Spa in Miami Beach, home to the famous Milly who has been a staple in the “How Not To Look Old” book, this botanical-base gel is ideal for restoring the skin around the delicate eye area, face, and neck. Effectively treats dehydration, puffiness, dark circles, fine lines, and signs of fatigue.
