July 8th marked the date Jean Paul Gaultier presented his Fall 2009 Couture collection at 325 rue Saint-Martin in Paris. The inspiration for his collection came from Hollywood heroines, showcasing their fierce and playful side. Midnight black leather trench coats with sever shoulders were paired with skin baring black tights. A military inspired olive wool body suit cinched in at the waist with a belt of the same material, had a cascading satin cape. Thigh high suede boots of the same hue and black leather gloves rounded out the look. The heavy dark eye makeup, black leather thigh high boots, trailing capes and veils all captured the powerful side of femininity. An ankle length fur coat was paired with cyan alligator overalls, while a canary yellow, lime green and soft pink and crème sequin coatdress, tied off with a black patent leather belt, showcased the collections more easy going side. The show finished off with images projected on the screen behind the runway of classic Hollywood film legends. Any woman is sure to be a leading lady when dressed in Jean Paul Gaultier’s fall couture collection.
