Alexis Mabille unveiled his Fall 2009 couture collection on July 6th at L’Académie on rue Royale in Paris.
Mabille said he drew his inspiration for the collection by imagining a girl waking up in her bed jumbled from her sheets and blankets. The serene white backdrop at L’Académie added to the trancelike allure. Judging from the collection, the girl he imagined has the most marvelous bed! Loose fitting baby blue silk knee length dresses with bell sleeves and white lace trim, along with floor length strapless peach satin dresses, looked like the models had taken the sheets right off their bed with them. The use of sheer gauze, white chantilly lace, relaxing color pallet (peach, baby blue and pale pink), satins, silks and bows all harped to the dreamlike state it was meant to invoke. The shoes were as delicate as the clothing. Pale pink suede, ivory and black kitten heels sauntered down the runway. Alexis Mabille is a newer contender to the couture shows and by the looks of his most recent collection; he is going to be staying around for a long while.
