Reyhan Sofraci, the designer for Aqua di Lara, brought her Canadian roots, or fashionable construction out in full force for the opening run this season. The scuba trend that was so apparent during the Resort 2010 collections last month stood strong here with a shiny cobalt and white combination that was not only figure flattering, but innovative and current to trend. Cut out one-pieces were the focus factor as well, but adding patterned black and white gave it a tiny graphic twist. Pastel pieces with scarf detail (one two piece had a scarf that wrapped around the neck in a carefree Gigi gone to St. Barth’s sort of way) were sexy and different. You can tell that Sofraci keeps her Montreal women in mind when creating the collection.
