The Valentino Fall 2009 Couture collection was shown at Couvent des Cordeliers on July 8th. Designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli presented a very youthful collection, as most of the dresses that sauntered down the runway were form fitting and heavy on showcasing the legs. The collection was saturated with tulle, chiffon, satin silk, and feathers, but the main fabric choice was black lace. This was seen in mostly every look, whether it be on the dresses or covering the models face as masks. Some of the looks included a beige silk ruffle lace top with a black sheer lace and silver sequin mini skirt, a steel gray corset top with a black satin and chiffon pencil skirt, or a black strapless silk dress with a bow so extensive on the back, it was wider than the model wearing it! The Valentino collection was gorgeous, and I have never seen black lace look so young and fresh.
