July 6th was a very important date for designers Alexandre Morgando and Matthieu Bureau as it was the first time they were invited to show their line, Alexandre Matthieu, at couture fashion week in Paris.
Held at the Drouot Montaigne, their fall 2009 collection consisted of an array of short playful dresses that all hit at mid thigh. Intricate black and white prints adorned cream-colored silks and black satins. Sherbet colored pastels graced the rich satins, as well as the tulle that hung on the front of a dress as though it was a party decoration. Pale pink ostrich feathers encompassed one of the strapless dresses, all tied together at the waist with a petite black satin bow. Coal black satin bowties adorned many of the dresses and enhanced the joyful theme. The use of feathers, tulle, Swarovski crystals, embroidery and prints took this lighthearted collection to the couture level. It is exciting to see a new designer on the runway and with the viewing of their latest collection, there is no doubt they will be invited back next season for another couture show.
