New York Fashion Week Fall 2010: The Green Shows, Thieves

Posted by fashionentrepreneurreport On Monday, February 15, 2010

Toronto eco-designer Sonja den Elzen presented Conscience, her FW10 collection for Thieves at The Green Shows at New York Fashion Week. Inspired by the exploitation of Canada’s natural resources, the looks were monochromatic black and the mood dark and edgy. Looks were structured, tailored, practical and wearable: on trend with high-waisted jodhpur-style pants, leggings, and loose, floppy lapels on often distressed outer layers. Draped hoods completed many looks which could be described as futuristic, gloomy, somewhat unforgiving with nothing to hide. Shorter skirts and a military feel evoked by black army boots. Menswear was represented for the first time in this highly-stylized yet wearable collection.
