Full Plate of Fashion: NYC Coalition Against HungerOn Friday, June 12, at the Brick Presbyterian Church, the Coalition Against Hunger held A Full Plate of Fashion: Fighting Hunger with Style, a fashion show featuring the work of Giles Montezin and a plethora of designers showcased by Fashion Show Director, William T. Buster.
Miss Africa USA was in attendance and spoke out against the hunger issues faces NYC.
Giles Montezin kicked off the evening showcasing pieces from his couture collection.  Giles is most recently recognized for being the designer behind outfits from the Sex and the City movie and more recently the Confessions of a Shopoholic movie. Trained at l’Ecole de la Haute Couture in Paris he has worked for such greats as Christian LaCroix and Loris Azzaro. Moving to NYC in 2004, he started his own collection.  Montezin has created pieces for Madonna, Catherine Zeta Jones, and Sarah Jessica Parker to name a few.
William T. Buster’s section of the show was separated into two parts.  Part one was titled “American Beauty,” showing designs from 1950-1965.  The dresses were conservative and classically tailored.  Heavy in velvet this collection was finished by the decade appropriate pearls, lace and gloves
The second section was titled “Art Deco Design” and showcased looks from 1925-1949.  This section contained more looks suited for the summer with coral colored silk, floral, yellow silk charmuse, and colbalt blue dresses.
Featured designers in William T. Buster’s portion of the night included New York Creations, New York Dress Institute, Fashions Originators Guild, Suzy Perette, Gigi Young, Jo Copeland, Ann Fogarty, Pat Hartley, DuBarry Original, Carlye, Parade, Mardi Gras, R&K Originals, Vogue Speacial Design and Weiss Grossman Gowns.
An extensive fashion show, William T. Buster closed the night with a look count of over 200! All Buster outfits shown were available for purchase and proceeds went to support the Coalition Against Hunger.
