Sunwashed Separates: Spring 2010

Posted by fashionentrepreneurreport On Sunday, June 21, 2009

silk seperates womenswearBright but bleached, complimentary colors, slouchy shapes in a desaturated palette.  For those that chose to use color this season, much of it was mixed and matched into sunwashed separates. Derek Lam and his lovely robin’s egg blue and peach parfait dress.  Jason Wu and Matthew Williamson all chose forms of yellow to command the attention, pairing it with blue bottoms.  Rochasand Luella also did yellow, but with a vintage feel (who didn’t love the ochre sheer top with visible conical bra and pencil skirt duo at Rochas or the bows from Luella Bartley).  Rachel Roy followed suit yet added in a stronger tailored effect and simple draping taking risks by pairing magenta and emerald all together.  Peter Dundas’ first collection for Emilio Pucci placed the yellow on the bottom, but with peach based bleached out neutrals breathing fresh life into the label and the bohemian theme.  Nicole Fahri’s slouchy silk short suit in jade and rose was modern and chic because of the way the jacket came in at the waste allowing the pockets to drape.  Peter Pilotto, London’s wünderkind still produced his trademark printed, draped mini-dresses, but by lightening up on the fabrics and giving each piece a pearlized effect, the desaturated hues were this season’s most original interpretation of the sunwashed trend.
