Marsha Goes to Hollywood: Italian Edition

Maggie Morgan in ItalyBonjourno! From the fabulous countryside of Italy.  Summer travels to such a beautiful, fashion driven culture will certainly inspire me as  show season set in this August back in Chicago.
Although it seems that the summer season has just arrived, all of the exciting collections for Fall have already hit some of the shelves of top designer boutiques here in Italia. Looking at how the retailers pair the textures and colors of the quintessentially perfect tailored garments is what simple Italian fashion is all about.
Traveling all through the Tuscan region, although this will now be my third time, I stopped to visit one of my favorite cities with a particularly fashionable scene, Portofino. Most all luxury yachts dock here to enjoy the fantastic sea-side restaurants and do some shopping at the surrounding designer boutiques. This side of the posh-Italian riviera is simply heaven. Inside the restaurant where I was eating, there was an oversized photo of Naomi Campbell (half-in-the bag) giving the restaurant's owner a giant kiss on the cheek as she holds a bottle of champagne. Classic. Parked right up next to us was the yacht, The Fortunate Sun, formerly known as Perfect Prescription, ranked #45 out of America's 100 Largest Yachts.http://www.powerandmotoryacht.com/megayachts/2007-america-megayacht-fortunate-sun/. I sat and scouted the deck, looking for some inkling of an idea of true Italian luxury fashion, but instead I saw a fellow Marsha, all giant glasses and gold chains.  I tried to take a photo but she spotted me and turned.  Aside from sighting my doppelganger, Portofino was laden with lightweight simple dresses and men in sweaters, no matter the temperature.
Other adventures have included venturing to one of National State Parks to go to the beach- as well as visiting the fabulous city of Lucca.  More to come from Italy.
Ciao. Marsha.
