Designer Alexandre Herchovitch showed his 2010 Spring Summer collection during San Paulo fashion week on June 18th. His extraordinary collection captured the unbashful use of volume. A color blocked silk dress in indigo, lime green, pink and gold jutted out so severely at the shoulders, it looked like the model was wearing “Mini Mouse ears” at her neck. A silk top in similar dimensions was layerd over a sheer nude body suit, sans bottoms. What was so structurally interesting about the collection was the use of plastic boning. This resembled body armor as ivory white boning hung over the torso. Black plastic boning was also used to create the structure for a geometric print silk skirt in red white and black. Paired with a sheer black body suit, these were the most feminine warriors I have ever seen. The hair was styled in a low bun so not to take away from the intricate clothing. With such vibrant colors and use of boning, it will be hard not to notice Alexandre Herchovitch’s collection both on and off the runway.
