InsideFashionWorld.com Independent Designer Showcase

KEVA Swim 2010InsideFashionWorld.com and the Gansevoort hotel hosted and independent designer showcase on Wednesday July 15th.
Honoring three emerging fashion designers on one runway to kick-off Miami Fashion Week Swim 2010 brands KEVA by Keva J, Liza + Tara Resort Wear and Tyler Rose Swimwear took to the Plunge pool to show to a packed house.
Keva Johnson of KEVA opened the show with African dancers and an eclectic mix of geometric shapes all done in tones of nude and bronze in a collection called “Back to the Serengeti”.  The cut and fit of these one pieces with the popular cut out trend were beautiful and innovative and the difference of fabric colors and gradations of metallics sparkled on the runway.  Building the collection into prints took the show to a wrong turn, snake print and florals in blues were not quite the right mix and actually broke up a show that started with such strength.

Lisa and Tara Resprt 2010Liza + Tara Resort Wear gave the audience a plethora of silk caftans and tunics.  The prints were pretty but nothing we haven’t seen before.  Dusty reds and the classic white all with whimsical influences of island braiding and beads.

Tyler Rose Swim 2010Tyler Rose Swimwear was inspired by Bohemian and Hippie lifestyles where the first piece (a metallic fringy two piece that a modern day Pocahontas would be proud to wear) rocked the runway.  The fringe was perfect and definitely in synch with what the market wants right now.  The tie-died two pieces were pretty and reminiscent of the old OP of the 80’s but putting them together more cohesively would have had a better impact.  The collection looked like it came from two completely different designers.
