Miami Swim Show 2010: Marysia

Posted by fashionentrepreneurreport On Friday, July 17, 2009

Marysia Swim Miami 2010In a collection named “Punk Ballerina” Marysia Reeves wove a story of her days as a professional ballet dancer where even though only 10 years old, she had a rebel streak in her just dying to get out.
The memory stuck and Reeves executed a cohesive, whimsical yet wearable collection, styled perfectly to get her point across.
The words “ballerina punk” might be scary to some buyers, but filling her collection with ruffled tops and bottoms, reversible mix and match pieces, and stunning… yes stunning cover-ups that had pleating, pin-tucking, exaggerated shoulders and everything current to Resort 2010, Marysia Swim was the true stand-out this evening.
Audience members were literally oohing and ahhing buyers from major on-line retailers were over-heard saying “This is really different and beautiful.  Thank God it’s not another show with the same ten suits.”
A color palette of buff, champagne, peach, rose and neon pink saturated the show.  Models were styled in vintage white bathing caps and neon pink lips and nails.
I would join them at a cabana on the shore any day.
