Miami Swim Show 2010: Poko Pano

Posted by fashionentrepreneurreport On Sunday, July 19, 2009

Poko Pano Miami Swim ShowCan you really mix the Brazilian Rainforest and Paris together and make a harmonious show?  Yes, and no.
While designer Paola Robba experimented with both themes, it was her Parisian-influenced satin fuchsia swimsuits with tassel detail which looked like they would be more than appropriate if Maxim’s went poolside, and her black netting details that conjured up the famous Helmut Newton Parisian shots of legs in fish-net stocking which stole the show.
After a dimming of the lights and a complete change of music, the bright colors and red red lips took center sage giving the audience more energy than the previous swagger they were seduced into before.
While the Brazilian Rainforest motif was cute, it was expected of swimwear, and although most likely a sure hit with the buyers.  It should have been relegated to the tradeshow part of Swim Week, as Robba put her best foot forward with the Paris half of the show proving that the talent and the vision is there, she just needs to stick with her gut.
