London Fashion Week Fall 2010: Iris Van Herpen

Posted by fashionentrepreneurreport On Saturday, February 20, 2010
Titling the show Synesthesia and defining the word as a cross-sensational phenomenon of feeling, sound, smelling motion and hearing color was an excellent way to start.  Placing all of the looks on the runway in almost a flight pattern as smoke cascaded throughout the room was even better. Iris Van Herpen a graduate of the ARTEZ school of arts and former employee of McQueen brought out the best in fashion at her Vauxhall Fashion Scout show this afternoon.  Dress spun with leather threadwork and metallic elements floated down the runway like butterflies.  The details were twisted cords, web-like knots and mulitlayers that exposed skin, creating almost a modern insect armor.  Multi-dimension was continued throughout the hair (done by celebrity stylist James Brown) and United Nude for the footwear.  Honestly this is what young independent talent should look like.  Full of forethought and desire of the new.  Any designer looking to make it to London’s big stage should take note of Iris, as she is surely one to watch.
