Christian Siriano is known for his dramatic take on the industry. The dramatic hair (his), his dramatic opinion “Fierce, Trannies” need I go on, and his dramatic layers upon layers of oozing organzas and silks (all quintessentially his. But this Fall 2010 the pint sized designer took it down a notch with a sophisticated classic collection nodding at the Parisian woman who is always “dressed”. Opening with herringbone/turned ombre knitwear a softer side of Siriano emerged. Then it was on to lady killer little black dresses and even more killer shoes. Working with Payless… yes you heard it Payless (which only proves, any partnership can be successful if you put your mind to it as he is in his 5th season with the retailer) the footwear was based on French antiques dating back to Louis the XVI. And then of course color came out in the evening only, by way of stormy blues (he called “Royal”) and fuchsia and wine tones floppy bows tiers and tiers of organza which made the crowd remember whose runway they were gazing upon. Choosing to open the show with the stunning Sessilee Lopez further upped the glamour quotient 10-fold.
