For the first time at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, Arise Magazine displayed some of the best design talent Africa has to offer.
Black Coffee from South Africa gave us a palette of pastel colors. Every model had on a draped long overcoat exuding comfort and simplicity of years past. The power bitch theme of last season’s fashion week was completely non-existent here and instead a subtle relaxed but well draped collection that looked very soft and comfortable this was the main focus of the whole collection.
Loin Cloth & Ashes designes out of Tanzania. Goucho pants, exposed zippers and yards of silk layers joined a palette of grayscale with pops of bright blue. Ribbons adorned almost every look, which made the entire collection a little too busy for the New York consumer.
Deola Sagoe – Nigeria. Beautiful, sexy and a crowd favorite Deola Sagoe even got a standing ovation. Stormy colors of black, navy, copper and dark slate metallic shaped into ruffles and sparkles. Feminine and lavish all at the same time, showing the ultimate craftsmanship of the designer.
