The production unveiled with Jacobs tearing down brown packing paper to reveal a stage full of beautiful wispy girls in romantic spendor. Somewhere Over the Rainbow crooned in the background. Jacobs has throws away the hard edge, gimmicks or themes to produce beautifully constructed pieces valuable to a woman’s wardrobe. Herringbone (large and blurred) came into play again. As did fur. But the 1940’s element of Old Hollywood cascading down a spiral staircase seemed to, for Jacobs, say officially good-bye to grunge and hello to glamour.
