American Sportswear needs to take note of an icon. Tommy Hilfiger answered the call from retailers and consumers this year ticking the three boxes editors have been writing about since the market crashed last September.
“People want Color” – Vibrant blues, rich reds, subtle aquas all saturated the runway
“People don’t want a risk and would rather spend money on classics” – where Hilfiger produced sumptuous trench coats and simple strapless dresses for women, and double breasted blazers for men.
“People want something new and different” shown simply in the silhouette of the season, the slouchy pant suit.
All done with his trademark panache, it looks like Spring 2010 will be worthy of hanging in the Fifth Ave flagship store, a venue created to be a home away from home for the clients that dress exactly like the models seen on the runway today.
