A collection which kept the garments closer to the body was a departure from Rebecca Taylor’s usually romantic girly consumer-friendly line.
This Spring 2010 season I think she channeled the woman instead. Cute but sharp little polka-dot shorts mixed with floral patterns. Sharper shoulders, nipped in waists, the use of grey sweatshirt material in dresses, shorts, and little jackets all played into the break down of the sorority girl that Taylor seams to design for. Sure, her clothes are still feminine, but this time with thought and a consciousness of the woman who styles herself instead of relying on the “perfect outfit” to get her through the day. The pattern mixing was the perfect introduction to a newer more risk-taking Taylor, and in a fashion world where only the strong survive, it looks like Taylor will be sticking around for a while.
