Minimalism has a new name… Matthew Ames. His ability to drape over the body with lack of detail conjures up modern Halston. His understanding of color echoes the same sentiment. While the silhouettes had no vintage reference at all whatsoever, Ames took his less is more attitude to the catwalk with simple jumpsuits, monochromatic dresses and a couple of black and white pieces that played off the body’s positive and negative space. There is no question as to why Ames is the Ecco Domani winner for new talent this year.
