LG Fashion Week Toronto Spring 2010: Pat McDonagh

Posted by fashionentrepreneurreport On Friday, October 23, 2009

Irish-born Pat McDonagh began designing in the 60s and was awarded the New York Times designer excellence award.
Her show at LG Fashion Week Spring 2010 began slowly with  structured, sophisticated, and feminine fitted shift dresses which evoked the womanly strength of the 1940s: classic and contemporary at once. The next segment of the show featured a faster Beatles soundtrack and the models picked up the pace wearing party wear including colourful organza gowns complemented by head pieces that resembled birthday cakes, paper versions of which adorned the runway. The looks evolved from business to night out/special occassion just as a woman does on any given day. The cakes set the tone for the collection which was celebratory, culminating in the final look of a bride in white--a cool, contemporary one with a cake on her head.
