LG Fashion Week Toronto Spring 2010: Lucian Matis

Posted by fashionentrepreneurreport On Friday, October 23, 2009

Winner of the Fashion Design Council of Canada's Designer Development awardLucian Matis staged a gorgeous goth show with looks that resembled Tim Burton's version of a 1920s flapper.
The show opened with music that evoked that era, the soundtrack moved on to a melancholy ragtime and the looks continued to impress and bring smiles to the faces in the crowd. Gorgeous dusty pinks and gunmetal grays on drapy dresses with strands and strands of pearls and jewelled harnesses adorning the models heads paired with lavendar platforms wrapping the ankles in bandage-like ribbon. Make-up was dark and edgy giving almost a death-like quality, but the ladylike designs, soft palette, and accents of shimmer (no black in sight) kept it in the realm of pretty. These are designs to be coveted from a truly world-class designer.
